30 Years of Commitment to Healthy Aquatic Ecosystems
In an interview with the WKO magazine Trust, Dr. Karl Donabaum, Managing Director of DWS Hydro-Ökologie GmbH, shares insights into his decades-long work in the field of aquatic ecology. Since 1995, together with Georg Wolfram, he has been dedicated to protecting and sustainably managing Austria’s water bodies. His mission: to understand, assess, and – when necessary – restore the ecological functions of rivers and lakes through targeted measures such as monitoring, aquatic plant management, and rehabilitation projects. A holistic view of ecosystems is essential to his approach. As climate change and human impact pose increasing challenges, a sound, science-based strategy becomes all the more important.
